Generating and Processing Summaries of search results using a language model
Topics: Chunk Relevance, LLM Readability, LLMO / GEO, Microsoft, Probably in use
This Microsoft patent application describes a technology designed to enhance electronic search engines by programmatically generating a concise summary of search results using a language model, such as a Large Language Model (LLM). The process involves a search engine taking a user’s query, ranking the most relevant search results, extracting snippets of information from those top results, and feeding those snippets into the language model with an instruction to synthesize a coherent summary. This generated summary is then immediately provided to the user in response to their query and can also be cached for faster retrieval when similar queries are submitted in the future.
