Reranking query completions

The patent describes a system and method for reranking search query completions based on user activity session data. The system receives a query prefix from a user and obtains query completions for that prefix. It then identifies queries that are likely to co-occur with a previously submitted reference query in user activity sessions. If any likely queries match the query completions, the system boosts their ranking to provide more personalized and relevant suggestions. This helps improve search results by considering the user’s previous search context and patterns from many users’ session data.
