Weighted answer terms for scoring answer passages

This Google patent describes a system designed to improve the accuracy of “long answers” or answer passages in search results. The technology works by extracting sections of text that follow specific question phrases found across the web, grouping similar questions together, and then calculating weights for the most common terms found in those answers. This creates a “weighted term vector” that allows the search engine to score and validate the quality of a candidate answer passage before displaying it to a user.
